90MVA 33kV CONTESTABLE CONNECTION
JSM is delivering the design and construction of a 90MVA, 33kV contestable connection for a major advanced manufacturing facility. The works combine an approximately 10km off-site cable route with new on-site 33kV and 11kV substation infrastructure, including primary transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems, associated civil engineering and commissioning.
THE CHALLENGES
Two separate crossings of the M5 motorway, requiring location-specific engineering, specialist construction planning and close coordination with National Highways and the wider stakeholder team.
The crossing of Crandon Bridge at Kings Sedgemoor Drain, requiring bridge-specific design development, surveys, structural assessment and coordinated approvals with the local planning authority, Indigo and affected utility stakeholders.
Delivery of a long 33kV route through operational highways, third-party land and constrained working areas, requiring careful traffic management, access planning, utility coordination and sequencing.
WHAT WE DELIVERED
A complete 33kV cable connection between Dunwear Point of Supply. And the new on-site substation infrastructure.
New 33kV and 11kV compounds incorporating modular switchrooms, primary and auxiliary transformers, switchgear, earthing, drainage, access roads, fencing and supporting services.
Engineered solutions for the two M5 crossings and the Crandon Bridge crossing, supported by route-specific surveys, design submissions and stakeholder approvals.
